Funerals

I am the resurrection and the life!’ (Jn 11:25)

A death in the family is a particularly difficult event. The church offers many ways of hope and consolation. After the death of a family member you should contact the parish priest, who will advise you about the way forward. Arrangements should be made with a funeral director, who will be in contact with the parish priest so that a suitable date can be arranged. Our local funeral director is TA Newman, 168 Balgores Lane, Gidea Park (01708 447446).

A meeting should be arranged with the parish priest to plan the service, whether it is to be a full funeral Mass, or a funeral service.

In every Mass that is celebrated we remember our dead, especially those recently deceased. Masses can be said specifically for the deceased by giving the details in at the parish office. An offering is usually made at this time. Many people like to arrange a Mass to mark the anniversary of death, on or near the actual day. Such arrangements should be made a couple of months in advance.
